Thornton Trophy

1. This competition is open to clubs who are members of the Y.R.G.A.
    
2. Each club may send ONE TEAM of TWO players.
    
3. The TEAM must comprise of 1 player in the 16 - 19 Handicap range and 1 player in the 20 – 28 Handicap range.
    
4. All players must comply with the Competition Rules in the 2008 Handbook.
    
5. The competition will be a singles Medal round over 18 holes and the Team with the lowest combined NETT score will be declared the winners of the Thornton Trophy.
    
6. There will be individual Trophies and Prizes as follows : 
   Norman Watson Cup :        Best Gross Score.
   Fred Brown Salver :          Best Nett Score.
   Prize for Best Nett  16 – 19 Handicap.
   Prize for Best Nett  20 – 28 Handicap.
    
7. In case of a tie the Committee will make awards on the result of the
   (a) last nine holes,
   (b) the last six holes,
   (c) the last three holes and so on down to the 18^th. hole if necessary.
    
8. The Rules of Golf will apply as amended by local rules at present in force at Ripon City Golf Club.
    
9. The players MUST SUBMIT a current History Handicap Certificate from their club, not later than 6-00pm. on the day of the competition.
   The players named on the certificates should have submitted at least THREE stroke play competition cards during the preceding twelve months.
    
10. Players must book on at least 30 minutes before their time & report to the Y.R.G.A. Official Starter 15 minutes before their start time.
    Failure to do so will result in their being slotted into the field, when the officials can arrange it, but this may be at the end of the field.
